Charge/discharge testing of energy storage cells in the thousand-ampere-hour class often requires 500A or more, sometimes exceeding 1000A. Because individual test units have limited current capacity, production lines commonly connect multiple units in parallel. Parallel configurations require careful management of current sharing, synchronized startup and data alignment across channels. Adding more units also increases floor space, commissioning work and maintenance. These factors directly affect test accuracy and production-line stability, particularly under high-current conditions and in precision applications such as capacity grading.
As cell capacity continues to increase, parallel systems become more complex. This places greater demands on equipment output, control algorithms and the design of the overall test solution.

Shenzhen RePower Industrial Co., Ltd. (RePower) has introduced an industry-leading single-channel 1000A cell test system that delivers kiloampere-level current from one independent channel. A single channel can complete full-rate charge/discharge testing of a large cell.
This design creates three direct changes for users.
First, the test current comes from a single source. Because one channel supplies the full current, there is no allocation error between channels. The cell receives the current specified by the test program, eliminating current-sharing issues at the architecture level.
Second, data traceability becomes simpler and clearer. Every data point on a charge/discharge curve comes from the same physical channel, removing cross-device alignment as a source of variation.
Third, the system requires fewer test units. This reduces floor space, maintenance points and commissioning work. For production-line planners, the same test capacity can be achieved with less factory space and fewer O&M resources, lowering overall cost.
Providing sufficient current is only the first requirement. In large-cell testing, current capability determines whether a test can be performed, while data quality determines whether the result is useful.
Large cells have long R&D cycles and high experimental costs. Test data are used for more than pass/fail decisions; they also support analysis of cell behavior, process improvement and calibration of lifetime models. These applications depend on accurate, trustworthy data. Equipment that delivers kiloampere-level current but only average accuracy reduces the value of the resulting high-current data.
The RePower Single-Channel 1000A Cell Test System provides test accuracy of 0.02%F.S to maintain data reliability at high current. Its 3ms current response enables precise capture of battery transient behavior.
The capacity of large energy storage cells continues to increase, and testing will require progressively higher currents. RePower has prepared for this shift with its Single-Channel 1000A Cell Test System and a broader equipment portfolio covering large-cell testing, formation and capacity grading.
